Project Overview

Zenith Developments Group delivered the Front Entrance Redevelopment for Hull University Teaching Hospitals, a £3 million project focused on transforming the arrival experience for patients and visitors.

The scheme addressed an existing entrance that lacked visibility and presence, often creating confusion on arrival. By reconfiguring the building frontage and introducing a new, highly visible gateway, the project has significantly improved access, wayfinding, and the overall first impression of the hospital environment.

The Brief

The client required a new main entrance that would be more visible, welcoming, and accessible, while improving navigation and reducing congestion at key access points. The design needed to enhance the hospital’s identity and create a calm, intuitive arrival experience, particularly important within a healthcare setting.

In addition to the external transformation, the project included internal upgrades to ensure a consistent, high-quality environment throughout.

Our Solution

Zenith delivered a reconfigured façade, bringing the building line forward and introducing a striking glazed entrance with a splayed footprint to create a clear and inviting point of arrival.

Internally, the works included new walls, doors, and staircase finishes, alongside upgraded floor, wall, and ceiling finishes and full M&E integration. The introduction of two distinct entrance points improved flow and navigation, supported by careful planning to ensure minimal disruption during delivery.

The Outcome

The completed redevelopment has created a bright, modern, and highly visible entrance that significantly enhances the patient and visitor experience. Improved wayfinding, reduced congestion, and a stronger sense of identity have transformed how the hospital is approached and experienced.

The project demonstrates Zenith Developments Group’s ability to deliver meaningful improvements within live healthcare environments, balancing design, functionality, and user experience.
