Project Overview
Zenith Developments Group was appointed by Amey Defence to deliver a £3.2 million refurbishment programme on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), involving the upgrade of 33 residential properties in Hull.
Delivered within a live residential environment, the programme focused on improving living standards, energy efficiency, and accessibility for service families. The works required a carefully phased approach, maintaining clear communication with residents while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and programme control.
The Brief
The client required the refurbishment of multiple occupied residential properties, with works designed to enhance comfort, functionality, and long-term performance. The programme needed to be delivered with minimal disruption to residents, while incorporating modern systems, improved layouts, and accessibility features.
In addition, the project demanded strict compliance with public sector standards and sensitivity to the needs of service families living on site.
Our Solution
Zenith delivered a phased refurbishment programme including full internal strip-out, installation of energy-efficient heating systems, electrical rewiring, new kitchens and bathrooms, and complete redecoration and flooring throughout.
External and adaptation works included landscaping, repairs, and accessibility improvements such as widened layouts, ramps, and specialist features including a ground-floor accessible bedroom with ceiling-mounted hoist and a purpose-built wet room. Close coordination with residents and stakeholders ensured smooth delivery within a live environment.
The Outcome
The programme successfully delivered upgraded, modern homes that significantly improve comfort, accessibility, and energy efficiency for MOD service families. The project highlights Zenith Developments Group’s ability to deliver large-scale refurbishment works within live environments, balancing technical delivery with occupant needs and wellbeing.
